Leslie Michael (Mike) Porter, 79, of Riegelwood NC, passed away July 11, 2020, at his
residence after a courageous battle with cancer.

He was born March 1, 1941 to Leslie Bush and Mary Catherine Porter in Kelly, North Carolina. Mike graduated from Elizabethtown High School in 1959 and served his country in the United States Air Force.

He is survived by his wife JoRuth Sanders Porter and their children Paige (Bert) Mileski, Heather (Ken) Manypenny, and Preston Porter. He is also survived by his
grandchildren Roger, Julia, Anna, Nevaeh, and Heaven and his beloved labradoodleSaylor. He was predeceased by his parents and his in-laws, Talmadge and Ida Ruth Sanders. He is also survived by his siblings, Joann (Paul) Hardee, Glenn (Margaret)Porter, Sandra (Mike) Allen, and Christy (Scott) Mitchell. Also surviving are sister in-laws Allene Harris, Patsy (Ken) Waddell, and his many nieces and nephews.

He was a retired employee of International Paper Company. A long time member of Riegelwood Baptist Church, he served as deacon and in many other capacities. Mike was also a member of Cape Fear Farm Heritage Association, Waccamaw Lodge #596, and Sudan Shriners. He was currently serving on the board of Riegelwood Sanitary District.

Mike's strong faith and love for his family were his passions. He enjoyed restoring his antique tractors, working up at his farm, making jelly, fishing with his sweetie pie, and wood working. Many hours were spent on his families farms in the Lowlands of Kelly.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 14, 2020 at 11am at Riegelwood Baptist Church by Rev. John Porter. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. In lieu
of flowers, the family requests memorials be given to the cemetery fund at Riegelwood Baptist Church.

Our family wishes to express our gratitude to the many physicians and nurses who provided care for our loved one. We will forever be grateful to the Lower Cape Fear
LifeCare Center for the compassionate care they provided Mike and our family over the last several days.Interred: Riegelwood Baptist Church Cemetery
