Ferdinand "Ferd" Fentress was the son of John Fentress and Matilda Jane Robinson. His paternal grandparents were William R. fentress, Sr. and Mary Frances Eskridge. His maternal grandparents were Elijah Noah Robinson and Letitia Davison. "Ferd" was born in Grayson County on December 9, 1853 (from microfilmed record of 1853 births) or 1854 (from Eskridge cemetery record). He was married twice. His first wife was Mary Elizabeth Ray (1852-1887). His second wife was Adeline "Addie" Layman, the daughter of Stephen Layman and Susan Kimble. He died on August 31, 1922 in Grayson County and was buried in the Eskridge (Bend) Cemetery near Rough River Dam. Note the following two death certificates for Ferdinand Fentress.
