SSgt. Jeremiah Dakota Johnson, 28, of Lowgap, passed away on June 27, 2020 in the United Kingdom, England while serving his country in the U.S. Air Force 100th Security Forces Squadron RAF, Mildenhall .

Jeremiah was born in Surry County, January 29, 1992 to Bryan “B.J.” and Sandra P. Johnson.

Jeremiah joined the Air Force in October of 2013 and was excited about his career and proud to serve his country, re-enlisting in January 2020. He was a Defender, Flight leader and mentor, well-liked by everyone that met him, touching lives in such positive ways. Jeremiah always greeted you with his contagious smile expressing the kindness and friendship he was happy to share.

He will be lovingly remembered by his parents, Bryan “B.J.” and Sandra P. Johnson; his paternal grandparents, Andrew and Essie Johnson; aunts, uncles, cousins; the loves of his life, Ashley and Delilah; and his special friends, Lori, Tracer, and Xander.

Jeremiah was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Raymond B. Prater, Sr. and Maxine T. Prater; and godmother, Lula Thompson.

Friends are welcome to pay their respect to SSgt. Johnson, at Mt. Airy Church of God, from 10:00 AM until 12 noon on Thursday, July 16, 2020. A graveside service will follow at 2:00 PM on Thursday at Ivy Green Baptist Church Cemetery. Anyone that would like to pay their respect to SSgt Johnson, may do so at Moody Funeral Home in Mt. Airy, on Wednesday, July 15, 2020, from 3:00 until 5:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for anyone to make a generous donation to any veteran charity of their choice.
