Writer. She was a strong proponent of the Aesthetic movement, and met the movement's effective leader, Walter Pater, in England in 1881, just after encountering his famous disciple Oscar Wilde. Her real name was Violet Paget and she is best remembered by her gothics short stories. Her works include "Hauntings. Fantastic Stories," "The Countess of Albany," "Vanitas: Polite Stories," "The Child In The Vatican" and "The Legend of Madame Krasinska."
