Don Curtis Norris, age 78 of Cookeville, died Thursday morning, July 9th at Cookeville Regional Medical Center.
He was born June 6, 1942 in Putnam County, TN to the late David Dow and Ozzie Cleghorn Norris. He was a 1961 graduate of Algood High School and served his country in the United States Navy.
Don worked at Red Kap in Cookeville as a sewing machine mechanic for 36 years until his retirement in 2000. He was also owner of Norris Sewing Machine and Small Engine Repair. He was a devoted family man and especially enjoyed joking with his grandkids.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Betty Jane Norris, whom she married July 1, 1967; daughter, Christina Norris; brother-in-law, Fred Bryant and father-in-law, Sam Steel.
He is survived by two sons, David (Bonnie) Norris of Dodson Branch; Curtis (Shelia) Norris of Hilham; daughter, Donnell (Justin) Lee of Dodson Branch; , brother, Lloyd Norris of Cookeville; sister, Patsy Howell of Algood; grandchildren, Jeffery (Amanda) Roberts, Jacob Roberts, Chelsea (Tyler) Slagle, Haley (DJ "TJ" Coulson) Hardy, and Mackenzie Norris all of Cookeville; and nine great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Pat Bryant; and brother-in-law, Tony Steel.
Funeral services were held Sunday July 12, 2020 in the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper Huddleston and Horner Funeral Home with Bro. Clayton Lee officiating. Interment followed in the Double Springs Cemetery.
