James (Cully) Clark, 912 South First Street, died Tuesday at 12:55 p.m. at Monmouth hospital where he had been a patient.....he had been in poor health for the past year.
Born July 31, 1883, at Monmouth, he was the son of Curtis and Emameretta [sic] (Clark) Clark. He spent his entire life here, attending local school. Rev. Hughes, then pastor of the First Christian Church of Monmouth performed his marriage to Agnes G Peterson on August 24, 1910.
He was employed by the Monmouth Mining and Manufacturing Company, the Western Stoneware Company, the Boss manufacturing company and the Rock Island Southern Railroad. He also played the base [sic] drum in the old M and M Band.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Agnes G. Clark of Monmouth; two daughters, Mrs. Paul (June) Morgan of Galesburg, and Mrs. William (Betty) Wagaman of Mason City, Ia.; two sons, Sgt. George E. Clark of the Illinois State Police, who resides in Monmouth, and Irvin Clark of Roswell, N.M.; nine grandchildren and a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents, five sisters, three brothers, and a daughter, Leona. Funeral services will be held at Turnbull's chapel at 2 p.m. Friday with the Rev. Ellis Beeman officiating. Interment will take place in the Warren County Memorial Park cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home, any time Thursday.
