Buster was born George Alvin Clawson on September 26, 1926 in Tacoma, Washington to Minnie Mitchell Mahood and Joseph Clawson. He was given the nickname, "Buster" due to his large birth weight. The story goes that the nurse picked him up and said, "Boy! Isn't he a buster?" and the name stuck for life!

Buster Clawson passed away on January 31, 1996, also in Tacoma. He was a member of VFW Post 91, the Seabees Island X2 and the Knights of Columbus. He retired from the U.S. Postal Service as a Lead Mechanic.

Buster was survived by his wife of 43 years, Agnes; son, John (Dawn) Clawson; daughters, Georgia (Eugene) Najar and Margaret Clawson; 2 granddaughters, Phoebe and Rachel Clawson; and 2 grandsons, John Clawson, Jr. and Patrick Clawson, all of Tacoma, and his sister, Carrie (Marv) Kaye of Edgewood, WA. Also surviving were numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and many friends.

A Rosary was held at 7 p.m. on February 2, 1996 at Mountain View Funeral Home. A Funeral Service was held at 11 a.m. on February 3, 1996 at Holy Rosary Church of Tacoma, with interment at Mountain View Memorial Park. A reception followed at Holy Rosary Church.
