Mary Larsen was born in Skuderlose, Sjælland, Denmark September 18, 1865. She married James Nelsen at Audubon, Shelby County, Iowa March 28, 1891.
Mr. and Mrs. Larsen came to Newell in 1891 where Mrs. Nelsen resided until her death. To them seven children were born. One a twin daughter preceded her mother to the great beyond. The other six are Fred M. Nelsen of Grants Pass, Oregon, Laura Couch, Hart F., Arthur J., Noah I. and Axel C., all of Newell. She is also survived by two brothers, Peter Larsen of Ute, Iowa and Lars N. Larsen of Paulina, Iowa.
