C. William Blair, 87, of Huntingdon, PA died Sunday, October 5, 2008 at Westminster Woods, Huntingdon, PA.

Born: A son of the late Samuel Blair and Ruth Elizabeth Whitney Blair, he was born October 3, 1921 in Garrett, PA.

Personal: He married Barbara Hartman on August 1, 1948 at St. Luke Lutheran Church, Mount Union, PA by Pastor Sharp. Mrs. Blair survives at their residence.

Mr. Blair was a 1940 graduate of the Broad Top Township High School.

Mr. Blair served in the U.S. Navy during WWII from May 1943 until January 1946 in the South Pacific aboard the U.S.S. Pocomoke AV-9. He participated in three major battles and received a unit citation for patrol duties at Saipan.

Survivors: Two daughters Beth Crownover and her husband Newall of Huntingdon, PA, and Becky Lance and her husband David of Washington, NJ; seven grandchildren Zachary Weiler and his wife Shelly of Florida, Whitney Rivello and her husband John of Huntingdon, PA, Joseph and Joshua Crownover of Huntingdon, PA, Ryan, Rachel and David Lance, all of Washington, NJ; three great-grandsons Dominic Blair Rivello and Lincoln Beau Rivello of Huntingdon, and Sean Ruffner of Florida; a sister, Margaret "Peg" Isenberg of Huntingdon, PA.

Memberships: Life member and Past Commander and All State Commander of Standing Stone Post #1754, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Huntingdon and was Quartermaster of the 17th District VFW, Department of PA, Life member of B.P.O.E., Lodge #976, Huntingdon, and Cloyd K. Davis Post #150, American Legion, Petersburg, PA where he served as past Commander. A member of 40 ET 8 and served several terms as Chef De Gare of Voiturs 820, 40 ET 8. He was also a member of the Standing Stone Golf Course and the Quarry Hollow Hunting Club.

He was a member of St. James Evangelical Lutheran Church, Huntingdon, where he served on the church council and was past treasurer and financial secretary.

Services: Interment with military honors will be in Huntingdon Memorial Gardens, Huntingdon, PA.
