A resident of Pomona for more than a half-century and long active in church and organizational affairs, Mrs. Annie D. Wright, 93, of 159 E. Holt Ave., widow of Wilbur L. Wright, passed away at her home at 5:15 p.m. Monday after three days of illness.
She was born Nov. 28, 1861, in Gillespie, Ill., and was married there to W. L. Wright on Sept. 14, 1893. The family came to California from Omaha, Neb., in 1900, and ever since then she has resided in Pomona. The couple celebrated their golden wedding anniversary here in 1943. Mr. Wright, a prominent leader in business, financial and religious affairs of Pomona, passed away on Dec. 6, 1945.
Mrs. Wright was a charter member of Trinity Methodist Church, a charter member of Pomona Ebell Club, and an honorary member of the Shakespeare Club.
She is survived by three sons, Lewis L. Wright of Pomona, Ross J. Wright of Riverside, and William M. Davis of Buena, Wash.; two daughters, Miss Mary Maude Wright and Mrs. J Ransom Casey,both of Pomona; and a sister, Mrs. Bettie J. Schmidt of Pomona.
There are nine grandchildren, Lewis L. Wright Jr. and Wilbur L. Wright, both of Anaheim; Richard D. Wright of Claremont; Mrs. Dorothy Wright Bostie of Los Angeles; Mrs. Mary Wright Thomas of Riverside; Mrs. Virginia Wright Melin of Longview, Wash.; Mrs. Geraldine David McCain of Los Angeles; Albert L. Casey of Grass Valley; and Kenneth R. Casey of La Verne. There also are 16 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held in Todd Memorial North Chapel at 3 p.m. Thursday. The Rev. John W. Black, pastor of Trinity Methodist Church, will officiate. Interment will be made by the side of her husband, the late W. L. Wright, in Pomona Cemetery.
