Francis Ward Johnson was born on January 8, 1922 in Alvarado, TX, the youngest of 5 children to Herschel Pope Johnson and Drucilla Alice Chastain. He married the love of his life, Johnnie Louise Sewell, on August 29, 1942. He was a member of the Greatest Generation, serving as a First Lieutenant in the Army Air Corps during World War II. After the war ended, Ward became a Chemical Plant superintendent, a position that he held for 35+ years. Most of all, he was a pillar in the Christian faith, serving as a Sunday School teacher within his community. In his free time, he enjoyed being with his family, doing activities like camping, fishing, and gardening. He was an excellent cook and enjoyed baking bread with his 4 grandchildren who all learned under his tutelage. He loved spending time with his nieces and nephews every change he could get. Ward was preceded in death by his wife Johnnie of 55 years, his parents Herschel and Alice, his 4 siblings Mary Myrle Anderson, Herschel, George, and Ed, 3 children Dorothy, Tommy, and Karen, and daughter-in-law Elaine Johnson. He is survived by his daughter Patti Fitch of Alvarado, TX and daughters-in-love Judy Oetting and Shelia Rutledge; grandchildren Lloyd and Diana Johnson of Edgewood, WA, Tami and Everett Augustine of Grandview, TX, Dayna Fitch of Alvarado, TX, and Chastain and Treasea Johnson of California, MD; great-grandchildren Zac and Scarlett Johnson, Jordan Johnson, Hannah and Brandon Luther, Everett Augustine Jr., Madison Augustine, and Thomas Johnson; 1 great-great grandchild Everett Augustine III, and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.
