James E. Cross, 84, 4228 Bluff City Highway, Bluff City, died Saturday, June 29, 1991, at North Side Hospital.
He was a Bristol native and had made his home in Atlanta for many years. He had lived in Bluff City for the past 25 years.
Mr. Cross was a World War II Army veteran.
He was a member of Leland Masonic Lodge No. 686 in Marbleton, Ga.
Mr. Cross was a Baptist.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Sallie B. Rutherford Cross, in 1984.
Survivors include two daughters, Lucille Hamm, Upland, Calif., and Bettie Kolonis, Victorville, Calif.; two sons, James V. Cross, Atlanta, and Jack A. Cross, Erwin; 12 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for James E. Cross, 84, 4228 Bluff City Highway, Bluff City, who died Saturday, will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the graveside in Glenwood Cemetery with the Rev. Bruce Fender and the Rev. Stephen Playl officiating. Honorary pallbearers will be Jack Allen Cross, Jr., James D. Cross, Mike Hunsucker, Scott Fleenor, James D. Sproles and Kyle Sproles. The family will receive friends at Oakley-Cook Funeral Home Tuesday evening. Oakley-Cook Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
