Rebecca Jean Myers Shields, age 88 of Pittsville died Friday, June 26, 2020 at Danville Regional Medical Center.
Born April 9, 1932 in Bedford County, she was a daughter of the late Joe E. Myers and Elizabeth Howell Myers.
She was predeceased by her husband, Thomas Douglas Shields.
Mrs. Shields was a member of the First Baptist Church of Gretna and attended Pittsville Pentecostal Holiness Church. She was a home maker and she enjoyed working in her flower garden, reading and talking with her neighbors.
She is survived by two sons, Steve Shields and wife, Kathy of Pittsville, and Gary “Bush” Shields and wife, Dianne of Pittsville; one daughter, Roxanne Morris and husband, Dwaine of Pittsville; one sister, Joan Bennett of Chatham; and four grandchildren, Keith Shields and wife, Robin of Pittsville, Joseph Shields of Pittsville, Brittany and Emily Morris of Pittsville.
Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Monday, June 29, 2020 at Pittsville Pentecostal Holiness Church by Rev. Hank Brady and Pastor Thomas Lee. Burial will follow in Gretna Burial Park. The family will receive friends at the residence. Colbert-Moran Funeral Home, Gretna is assisting the family.
