Frederick Andrew "Fred" Derocher opened a general merchandize store in October 1925 in Bark River, in a building that had been built in 1901.
He & Laura ran the store & raised their family upstairs.
Son Francis assumed responsibilities of the business when his father retired July 1, 1960.
Even after retirement, Fred, still living above the store, worked in the store & enjoyed is customers.
