Stanley H. Klemme, 72, of Columbia passed away at his home Saturday, Nov. 13, 2004.

Services were held Tuesday, Nov. 16, at Community United Methodist Church,with Pastor Gary DeWitt officiating.

Stan was born on Aug. 17, 1932, in Hartsburg to Henry and Viola Meyer Klemme. He graduated from Ashland High School in 1950 and served in the U.S. Army from 1953 to 1955. He played two years of professional baseball with the New York Giants Minor League from 1951 to 1952, playing with the KOM League in 1951 and Georgia Florida League in 1952. He was a member of Community United Methodist Church. He worked for Silvey Companies for 30 years, retiring in 1995 as vice president of marketing and underwriting. He was a volunteer at Columbia Regional Hospital for the past five years and a member of The American Legion, Post 202.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Glen Klemme.
