IDA IRENE COOK, daughter of Chester Dodge and Wilsie Knieriem Gifford, was born July 31, 1924, in Dakota City, Iowa, and departed this life February 25, 2015, in Springfield, Missouri, at the age of ninety years.

Ida made a profession of faith in Christ as a young girl and at the time of her passing had been a longtime, active and faithful member of Cedar Bluff Baptist Church. Ida served as church clerk for forty years and was also Bible School Director, among many other voluntary positions she held within the church over the years. Ida appreciated the love and prayers of her church family.

Ida graduated from Waynesville High School with the class of 1942. She then went on to attend Southwest Baptist College and Southwest Missouri State University where she earned a Bachelor’s degree in Education. Ida taught in several rural schools until they consolidated. She then accepted a position with Plato School System, where she taught until her retirement in May of 1988. However, she continued to substitute teach for nine more years. Ida loved the children and was respected by her fellow teachers.

On August 5, 1951, Ida was united in marriage with Alva Cook. Prior to his passing on October 20, 1997, they had celebrated forty-six years of love and laughter together.

Ida was also preceded in death by her parents; four brothers; and five sisters.

Although we will miss her here, our loss was Heaven’s gain.
