Arlon Wayne Sparkman, 81, of Decatur, passed away on Friday, June 19, 2020. A visitation for Mr. Sparkman will be held on Monday, June 22, 2020, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at Roselawn Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life service will follow at 11:00 am in the chapel of the funeral home. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery.
Mr. Sparkman was born to parents, Mable and Norman Sparkman. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. His family describes him as someone who was simple, sweet, and to the point. He was very well known for being a supportive father and grandfather. There was never a sporting event, award ceremony, hospital visit, or graduation that he did not attend. Mr. Sparkman loved to spend his free time outdoors. Some of his most cherished memories from his children and grandchildren were those spent out on a lake fishing together. Mr. Sparkman will truly be missed by all who knew him.
He is proceeded in death by his parents and loving wife of 62 years, Patsy Sparkman. He is survived by daughter Elizabeth (Liz) Ann Kellum; sons, Timothy Wayne Sparkman (Marlo) and Anthony Lane Sparkman (May); grandchildren, Michelle Held (Jefferson), Stephanie Richey (Jack), Josh Sparkman (Amanda), Alisha Phillips (Matt), Kayla Sparkman, Haley Sparkman; great-grandchildren, Alexis Held, Calvin Held, Zoey Bennington, Jaythan Rutherford, Zierra Richey, Kensley Butler, Dakota Phillips, Laney Sparkman, Lilly- Ann Sparkman, Lucy Sparkman, Madisyn Howell, and Anna Katelyn Howell; great-great grandchildren, Asher Held and Tatum Cave. Pallbearers will be Josh Horton, Justin Horton, John Helms, Johnny Howell, Jefferson Held, and Calvin Held. Honorary Pallbearer will be Jaythan Rutherford.
