A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday for Mrs. Kelso Shelton McCarty, 79, who died Sunday at her home on White Oak Road after an illness of several months.
A native of Stafford County, she was a deaconess of the Bethel Baptist Church and a daughter of the late Raleigh T. and Jane F. Shelton.
In addition to her husband, William Thomas McCarty, she is survived by two children, Mrs. Ola Beatrice Jett and Emmett Travis McCarty; five sisters, Mrs. Florence Sullivan, RFD 2, Mrs. Dora Bates, of Arlington, Mrs. Linda Finn and Mrs. Aseneth Frye, of Takoma Park, Md., and Mrs. Christine E. Koope, of St. Petersburg, Fla., and several nieces and nephews.
The Rev. Guy A. Foster, of Richmond, and the Rev. C. J. Ashley, pastor of Bethel Baptist Church, will conduct the service at Bethel Church. Burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be John M. Olive, Clark C. Bates, Monroe Brooks, Howard Massey, Robert E. Jones and Wilson Jones. The Men's Bible Class and deacons of Bethel Church will be honorary pallbearers.
