HESSTON — Ruby Weaver, 79, homemaker and former elementary school teacher, died Wednesday (Dec. 7, 2005) at Schowalter Villa in Hesston.

She was born Aug. 11, 1926, to Solomon and Barbara (Yoder) Zook in Ulen, Minn. She married Gene Weaver May 14, 1949, in Hutchinson. He survives of Hesston.

She grew up in Surrey, N.D. She taught elementary school at Daisy Elementary School in Yoder for two years. She graduated from Goshen College with an associate of arts degree and attended Hesston College in 1943. She was a member of Whitestone Mennonite Church. She also worked for Royal Turkey Farm, Hesston Mill and the Hesston College Post Office.

Other survivors include: sons, Robert and Phyllis Weaver of Hesston, Galen and Dixie Weaver of Amarillo, Texas, and Greg and Debra Weaver of Kingman; a daughter, Marcia and Chago Mendez of Hesston; brothers, Durbin and Mildred Zook of Goshen, Ind., and Lloyd and Loretta Zook of Hesston; a brother-in-law, Levi Yoder of Hutchinson; grandchildren and spouses, Andrea and Pete Herrera of Tyler, Texas, Tim and Marguerite Weaver of Wichita, Adam Weaver, Michael Mendez, Christopher Mendez and Marcos Mendez, all of Hesston, and Jeremy and Megan Horn of Kingman; and great-grandchildren, Sophia Herrera, Samuel Weaver, Ben Benjamin and Chris Benjamin.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Esther Yoder.

Burial was Saturday in Eastlawn Cemetery.

Memorial service was Saturday at Whitestone Mennonite Church in Hesston with Pastor Mark Miller officiating.

Memorials have been established with Schowalter Villa in care of the funeral home, 107 S. Lancaster Ave., Hesston, KS 67062.
