Actor. Luís Filipe Duarte Ferreira da Silva (stage name Filipe Duarte) was one of the best-known actors in Portugal from the mid-90s to his death. He debuted as a professional actor after graduating in Theatre from the Lisbon Theatre and Film School, on December 6, 1994, at the age of twenty-one, in Alberto Adellachs' play "Homo dramaticus" on the stage of the Trindade Theatre in Lisbon. He went on to participate in only nine more plays, as he made a career mainly in television, film, and dubbing. He participated in sixteen films, namely "Os Imortais" (2003), his first feature film, "A Costa dos Murmúrios" (2004), "A Outra Margem" (2007), "Entre Os Dedos" (2008), "A Vida Invisível" (2013), "Cinzento e Negro" (2015), "Histórias de Alice" (2016), "A Morte de Luís XIV" (2016), "Variações" (2019) and "Mosquito" (2020), his last work. He also participated in twenty-three short films and two television films. He participated in national and Brazilian soap operas and series, namely: "A Febre do Ouro Negro" (2000), "Fúria de Viver" (2002), "A Ferreirinha" (2004), "Equador" (2008-2009), "Belmonte" (2013-2014) and his last work "Amor de Mãe" (2019). His dubbing countless cartoon characters made his voice famous to younger generations in Portugal. He voiced the Narrator of "Teletubbies" (1997-2001), Sanosuke Sagara and Makoto Shishio in "Samurai X" (1999-2002), Tarzan in "Tarzan" (1999), "Tarzan & Jane" (2002) and the tv series "The Legend of Tarzan" (2001-2003), Rocky Rhodes in "Chicken Run" (2000), Tulio in "The Road to El Dorado" (2000), Lord Farquaad in "Shrek" (2001), Time in "Alice Through the Looking Glass" (2016) and many others. He had one daughter, Antónia (b. 2011), from his relationship with Spanish actress Nuria Mencía. He won the Portuguese Golden Globe for Best Film Actor in 2015. He died suddenly of a heart attack at the age of 46.
