Henry Virgil Davenport Jr., age 89 of Alvin, Texas went home to be with the Lord with family by his side Friday, September 23, 2022 at his home. Henry was born March 20, 1933 in Ranger, Texas and was a resident of Alvin for 50 plus years. He was a longtime employee of Hunt Oil Company working as an Oilfield Production Foreman and retired in1999. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War aboard the U.S.S. Hancock ( CVA-19 ) aircraft carrier. He was a long standing member of the VFW, American Legion and the Texas State Rifle Association. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and many other outdoor activities. Henry was a longtime member of the Church of Christ, where he served the Lord Our God as an Elder, Decon and Pastor. He loved and raised his children in the word of God.

Henry also attended the University of Texas at Austin and was forever a Texas Longhorn....Hook'em Horns!

Henry is preceded in death by his wife, Leona Davenport; parents, Henry and Lora Davenport Sr.; son in law, Wes Marty; daughter in law, Christina Davenport.

The Family requested memorials be made to the Alvin Emergency Medical Services.

A Visitation will be held from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Friday, October 7, 2022 at Scott Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Saturday, October 8, 2022 at Scott Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Oak Park Cemetery in Alvin, Texas.
