Norton D. Hartley and Debora A. Jones Hartley commenced house keeping for themselves in a little house on a 40 acre farm about one mile E. of West Elkton, Prebble County, Ohio in 1837.
On Saturday, the 10th of Jan. they welcomed into their home a little son Feb. 10, 1838. They named him William Jones, in honor of his maternal grandfather.
