Alma "Jeanne" Link, 82, of Chesterton, passed away Wednesday, May 23, 2001 at Porter Memorial Hospital. She was born January 21, 1919 in Winamac, Indiana, the daughter of Roy and Bess (Miller) James. Mrs. Link was a homemaker and secretary at Jackson Twp. and Washington Twp. schools and attended Liberty Bible Church. On June 26, 1943, she married Clarence "Herb" Link, who preceded her in death January 28, 1992. Surviving is a daughter, Jamie (Ron) Smoker of Chesterton; three sons, Herb (Joyce) Link and Greg (Jane) Link of Chesterton and Gary (Claudia) Link of West Palm Beach, FL; four grandchildren: Travis Link, Laurie (Brian) Swann, Jacob Link and Terry (Angie) Dougherty and five great-grandchildren: Brandon Swann and Allison, Meghan, Lauren and Madelyne Dougherty. Her parents, a sister, Dorothy Helvie and two brothers, Keith and Kenny James also preceded her in death.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 26, 2001, 11 A. M. at Bartholomew Funeral Home, 102 Monroe, Valparaiso, IN, Rev. Al Marquez officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday, May 25th, from 2 to 8 p.m. at Bartholomew Funeral Home. Memorial donations may be made to the Porter County Cancer Society or the Leukemia Foundation.
