John was united in marriage to the love of his life, Miss Diane Duncan on June 10, 1961, this union was blessed with two children. John proudly served his Country in the United States Army; he attended the Christ Episcopal Church in Rolla, Missouri. John loved life, and lived every moment to the fullest; he was an avid pilot, and shared his love of flying with his wife, who is also a licensed pilot. John really loved bluegrass music, it was always a good time to get with his “bluegrass “ friends and do a little picking on the guitar, those along with spending time with family were always his best days. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. He will be lovingly missed and always remembered by everyone that knew and loved him.
John A. Woodward is survived by his wife of 59 years, Diane Woodward, of the home; son, John A Woodward JR of St. Louis, MO; brother, Lynn Edwin Woodward and wife Nikki, of St. Louis, MO; cousin, Jim Morton and wife Jean, of Montauk, MO; grandchildren, Heather Ann Schimmer, John A. Woodward III, Julia Shae Amos, and Richard Skyler Woodward; a host of extended family and friends. In addition to his parents, John and Bonnie Woodward, John was preceded in death by his son, Clayton Woodward; sister, Clarise Faye Laws; brother, Ethan Clinton Woodward.
Funeral service will be held on Thursday, June 18, 2020 at 1:00PM at the Salem Chapel of the James & Gahr Mortuary with Reverend Mike Bell officiating. Internment will be at Green Forest Cemetery. A visitation for family and friends will be held at the Chapel on Wednesday, June 17, 2020 from 5-7PM.
