Bill spent most of his life in the South Lansing area. His life's work was in the printing trade, and he retired from the Lansing State Journal on June 1st. 1988, after 33 years of service.
Bill was active in Cub Scouts, Explorer Scouts, Little League baseball and Neighborhood Watch. He was also a charter member and long time secretary of M.G.R.S. Inc. He was the neighborhood handyman for many years and could fix almost anything. He took great pride in his lawn and other interests, including fishing, hunting, woodworking and camping.
Bill was predeceased by his parents; son, Bruce; brothers, Dick, Dan, Kenneth, Donald (Mary); sisters, Jairie Conley and Judy (Pete) Klont.
Bill is survived by his wife of 65 years, Ponnie J. (Graham); daughter. Linda (Jim) Delaney of Grand Blanc; sons, Douglas Bailey of Lansing and Mark Bailey of Lansing; sister, Carol (Bob) Borring of Six Lakes; daughters-in-law. Jalayne Bailey of Williamston, Dorothy Bohn of Plainwell, Janene Bailey of Haslett; brother-in-law, Verlon (Kathy) Graham of Eaton Rapits, Fred Conley of Charlotte; sister-in-law Carolyn (Gary) Cheadle of Florida; grandchildren, Kelley Delaney, Kara Brandon) Bryant, Justin Bailey, Rachel Bailey and newborn great-granddaughter Annabel Quinn Bryant; very special friend and surrogate grandson, Brandon Nico and family of Williamsburg, Michigan; special friend, Matt Aves and family, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday, May 21, 2014, at Skinner Funeral Home, Lansing Chapel.
