Edwin Ralph Jones was called home by his Heavenly Father on June 11, 2020.

He was born to Emma and Harry Jones on August 13, 1929 in Scranton, PA.

He was married to the love of his life for almost 69 years, Marilyn, who preceded him in death 15 months ago. He is now rejoined with her in the presence of Jesus.

He was also preceded in death by his parents and sister, Shirley.

Ed is survived by his three children: daughter, Carol Jensen and her husband Stanley of Georgetown, TX; son, Paul Jones and his wife Becky of Fort Collins, CO; and daughter, Sharon Cole and her husband Rob of Clarkston, MI. He is also survived by 6 grandchildren: Kevin Jensen and his wife Rachel, Michelle Jones, Brian Jones, Danielle Cole Rose and her husband Nick, Julie Garcia and her husband Noel, Evan Cole, and two great grandchildren, Ezra Jensen and Michael Rose.

He had a wonderfully romantic story of meeting his wife in junior high and being solely interested in her. He entered the Air Force in 1948, and 2 years later she joined him to Biloxi, MS where they married in 1950. In truth, Ed and Marilyn “met” at birth, 5 days apart in the same hospital in Scranton, PA.

Immediately after being discharged from the Air Force in 1952, he joined Marilyn in Scranton where his first child was born, then quickly to New Jersey to find a job. He and Marilyn settled in Pompton Lakes where their next 2 children were born. He was trained in radio operations and technology in the Air Force and the training set him up perfectly for the emergence of computer technology. He joined IBM in 1954 where he spent the next 32 years in various positions but ultimately ending up in training and education, which was a vocation he loved. After retirement in 1987, they moved to Crystal River, FL where they enjoyed sun, relaxation, travel, friends and many visitors. He especially loved to travel with Marilyn visiting their children in different parts of the country and many, many visits to Disney World.

In 2008 they moved to Georgetown, TX to be closer to family. They lived in lovely home and community in Sun City Texas Georgetown until 2018, when they moved to the Wesleyan Estrella Independent living where they have enjoyed being waited upon after years of serving others.

Ed loved history, especially World War II history, as he was in high school when that took place. He never stopped reading the many books published on all the battles and loved to talk about them to whomever would listen. He was enormously proud of his service in the Air Force during the Korean war.

Ed will be most remembered as a passionate Christian man who loved Jesus and loved to study and teach the Bible. His favorite books to teach were Acts and Romans. He was amazingly well studied in all the Epistles of Paul. One of the most significant events came about when Ed saw a need and planted a church, Grace Bible Church, in Inverness FL. He came out of retirement and led the congregation there for 10 years.

He will be greatly missed by his family and many friends.
