Wife of Johannes Bieker (1795-bef 1876). Maiden name currently unknown. Immigrated to the US with son Adam and his family on the SS Gellert, arriving New York, NY on 6 Sep 1876.

Ship passenger list:
Adam Bicker, age 49 Male, Russia
Cathar Bicker, age 45 Female, Russia
Cathar Bicker, age 16 Female, Russia
Franz Bicker, age 14, Male, Russia
Margar Bicker, age 72, Female, Russia

The Hamburg Germany ship departure list for the Gellert indicates Margaret was the mother of Adam and their current residence was "Neu Obermonjour, Russland". Margaret's age implies a birth year of 1804 but both the 1834 and 1857 Obermonjou census give a birth year estimate of 1799.

Bieker genealogy

The 1834 Obermonjou, Russia census list two Bieker household headed by brothers. Their wives and sons are:

Household # 112 ~ Johannes (1796-bef. 1876) and wife Margaret (1799) - this Margaret Bieker
Sons: Heinrich (1823), Johann Adam (1825), Nikolaus (1828), Johannes (1830)
Another son Joseph was born just after the 1834 census in about 1836.

Household # 113 Heinrich (1807-1852) and wife Anna Maria (1811-?)
Sons: Wilhelm (1827)

All the sons listed above, with the exception of Adam, came to the US in 1875 on the SS Ohio arriving in Baltimore, MD on 23 Nov 1875. An AHSGR document lists them all as having come from New Obermonjou but only Nikolaus and Wilhelm are in the initial 1862 census for New Obermonjou.

The Schoenchen, KS church history book includes a genealogy section for the founding families of Schoenchen and has two notable differences from the above. First, this Margaret Bieker is actually listed as Catherine Bieker widow and does not give a date of birth or death. Second, Wilhelm (1827) is included as a son of Catherine/Margaret but Heinrich (1823) is not. The Russian census is likely to be more correct with Wilhelm Bieker (1827-1880) being the cousin to the other Biekers.

--------------------------------------------------

This Margaret likely died before the 1880 US census as she is not listed in the 1880 census. Parish burial records apparently only go back to 1913 and there are a number (~20) of unmarked or unreadable gravestones and iron crosses in the first few rows of the cemetery. One of them is probably hers.
