Patricia Howell, 95, of Brookings, formerly of Volga, passed away on Monday, June 8, 2020, at the Brookings Hospital. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, June 11, 2020, at 10:30 A.M. at St. Thomas More Catholic Parish in Brookings, with a time of visitation immediately preceding the service from 9:00 A.M. until 10:30 A.M. Eidsness Funeral Home is assisting Patricia's family with arrangements.

Patricia Elainne Howell was born March 16, 1925 at Tyler, Minnesota to Harry and Irene (Maher) Kelley. She graduated from Tyler High School and Mankato State College and taught elementary school in Vesta, Ivanhoe and Hutchinson Minnesota from 1943-1949.

On September 10, 1949, she married Dale Howell in Tyler, MN. They made their home and farmed near Volga, SD. They had four children. Dale passed away in 2001, and Patricia remained on the farm until 2013, when she moved to Brookings.

Throughout her adult life, Patricia was involved with literacy programs, Century Club, Fortnightly, PEO and Bridge Club. She enjoyed needlework, reading and crossword puzzles. Dale and Patricia enjoyed travel and traveled to forty-nine states and several foreign countries. She was a member of St. Thomas More Catholic Parish in Brookings.

Patricia is survived by her sister, Rosemary Reynolds; sister-in-law, Laura Kelley; children Robin (George) Grant of Plymouth, MN; Judy Howell of Brookings; Craig (Erica) Howell of Volga, SD; and Kent (Karen) Howell of Volga, SD; her grandchildren Ashley (Curtis) Van Maanen, Michelle (Brian) Jacobson, Abigail (Lance) Howard, Dan (Ann) Howell, Emily Howell and Paige Howell; and ten great-grandchildren .

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Dale; brothers, Harry and Walter; sister, Maxine; and grandson, Mark.

The family is grateful for the care Patricia was given while at The Neighborhoods in Brookings.
