Laurie Taylor, 63, of Ottawa, passed away Thursday, May 23, 2019 at OSF St. Elizabeth Medical Center.

Cremation rites have been entrusted to Ottawa Funeral Home and Crematory.

Laurie was born November 4, 1955, in Belvedere, Illinois to Eugene and Susan (Edlin)VanMeter. She married William Taylor on May 17, 1985 in Ottawa, Illinois. In retrospect, Laurie touched the lives of so many people. She always wanted to make sure everyone was ok and was just a phone call away. Laurie also had a great love for all animals, whether it was taking care of her 3 dogs; Lupe, Rico, and Lulu or feeding the stray cats in the neighborhood. Laurie was not only kind-hearted but was unbelievably strong and brave as well. She could always be counted on for good conversation, great advice, and a wonderful sense of humor. According to her grandson, Dylan, she made the best peanut butter sandwiches ever and her family loved her Thanksgiving dinners. She will be truly missed because of her sarcastic banter and her ability to take care of things the "right way". When it comes to Laurie and William's relationship, they loved for each other and their love stayed strong. He could not have made it this far without her.

Even though you are gone, you will live on in our thoughts and memories; your spirit will NEVER be forgotten. We all love you!!

She is survived by her husband, William; six children, William L. (Gloria) Taylor II, Kelly S. Taylor, Lesley A. (Brad) Washkowiak, Shawn M. (Janet) VanMeter, Steve H. (Kathy) Taylor, and Sarah R. Taylor; thirteen grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; four siblings, Linda VanMeter-Sisco, Leanne (Jon) VanMeter-Johnson, Dawn Wagner, and Katherine "Kitty" Wagner-Smith; her step-father, Edward Wagner; and her favorite furry friend, Lulu.

Laurie was preceded in death by her parents.

Memorials may be directed to Pet Projects, 2676 E 2575th Rd, Marseilles, IL 61341.
