Bobbie Ruth Eubanks, 93, of Afton, Oklahoma passed away on Sunday, May 31, 2020. Bobbie was born on January 12, 1927, in Sayre, Oklahoma, to Robert and Ethel (Eason) Boynton. Bobbie was the child of a pastor and lived in Oklahoma and Kansas during her formative years. She received a Bachelor’s Degree in Education from Emporia State University and taught school in Kansas for one year before meeting her future husband in West Texas. Bobbie was united in marriage to Bert Tyson Eubanks on July 31, 1949. Their early years of marriage were spent on a farm near Bovina, Texas prior to moving to their homestead near Afton, Oklahoma in 1952. Bobbie taught school for many years in Afton, Oklahoma before her retirement.
Bobbie was a charter member of Trinity Southern Baptist Church along with her husband Tyson. She served as pianist and organist and also taught a Sunday School class. She served as Board Treasurer and was an active member of various committees including the Women’s Missionary Union. She also held leadership roles with the Northeast Baptist Association. Bobbie was a gifted musician, seamstress, and cook and enjoyed spending her spare time crocheting and reading. Her greatest joy was her family.
Bobbie was preceded in death by her husband, Bert Tyson Eubanks, her son James Kent Eubanks, her parents, Robert and Ethel Boynton and an infant brother.
She is survived by one son, Bob Eubanks and wife Kay of Welch, Oklahoma; one daughter, Barbara Eubanks of Independence, Kansas; six grandchildren, Craig Eubanks, Brock Eubanks, Justin Eubanks, Lindsey Eubanks Vaughn, Christie Bassett, and Stetson Eubanks; and 11 great- grandchildren, Josie, Lindie, Alexis, Tytus, Beau, Camri, Kent, Cash, Lillian, Josiah, and Mercedes.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 pm on Thursday, June 4, 2020 at Trinity Southern Baptist Church in Afton, Oklahoma with Pastor Brian Gibson officiating. Visitation for friends and family will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 pm on Wednesday, June 3, 2020 at Trinity Southern Baptist Church in Afton, Oklahoma. Interment will follow the funeral service at Glen Abbey Memorial Gardens, Miami, Oklahoma. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorial donations to the Oklahoma Baptist Homes for Children.
