Know for Long Service in Domestic and Canal Supply Work

Hyrum Goodale, 77, died unexpectedly at his home, 2363 Jackson Avenue, Saturday evening. He had gone to his room for rest and when he remained longer than usual his daughter, Mrs. L .M. Hilton, wife ofthe police chief, found he had died of heart failure. He had been in good health and was down town Friday. he attended the old folks' outing Thursday at Lorin Farr pack and was cheerful and happy.

LENTHY SERVICE

In the year, 1881, Mr. Goodale directed the building of Ogden's first water system and became the superintendent of the city waterworks department. The water was taken from Wheeler, Coldwater and other canyons and furnished the supply until artesian water was developed during the second administration of Mayor A. G. Fell. Mrs. Goodale was identified with the Ogden Bench Canal company operations as water master for fifty years and only recently retired from the office. He was retained as a director.

Mrs. Goodale was born at Brigham Fort, Ogden, July 6, 1856, a son of Isaac N. and Louise Bingham Goodale. Children surviving him are Thomas H. Goodale of Riverdale; Mrs. Pearl mcCordon of Lovelock, Nevada; Mrs. Marie Clark of Oakland, Calif., Mrs. Martha Phillips of Pacific Grove, Calif., and Mrs. Jennie Hilton of Ogden; 16 grandchildren and one great - grandchild. Surviving brothers and sisters are Joseph Goodale and Erastus Goodale of Riverdale; Miss Electa Goodale of Salt Lake City; Mrs. Martha Buswell of Ogden; Miss Edith Goodale of Salt Lake City and Mrs. Emma Childs of Ogden.

IN PRIESTS QUORUM

He was a member of the high priests' quorum of the Ogden L.D.S. stake member of the volunteer firemen's' organization and was toll keeper in Ogden canyon years ago. Mr. Goodale was married to Sarah Jane Etherington on June 30, 1881. His wife died in Ogden October 31, 1930. Time of the funeral services will be announced by Larkin & Sons.
