Barbara J. Howard, 76, of Monroeville, Indiana passed away Monday, June 1, 2020, at Parkview Hospital – Randallia in Fort Wayne, Indiana.
She was born on December 18, 1943, in Fort Wayne, Indiana to the late Raymond W. Parker and the late Rhoda L. (Kinnaley) Parker. She married Stephen R. “Skip” Howard on October 13, 1962, at St. Rose Catholic Church in Monroeville and he preceded her in death on July 22, 2019.
Barbara was a member of St. Rose Catholic Church in Monroeville.
She had a varied work history that included employment at ITT, Monroeville Community Park, and most recently Fort Wayne Newspapers.
Barbara cherished her time spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed cooking and volunteering. For over 25 years she volunteered her time at the Monroeville Park and additionally cooked many meals for different park events.
She is survived by her son, Matt (Sheila) Howard of Monroeville, Indiana; daughter, Stacie (Patrick “Red”) Smith of Monroeville, Indiana; daughter, Brett Howard of Monroeville, Indiana; six grandchildren, Cory Howard, Jacob Howard, Melissa Widenhoefer, Caitlyn Mishler, Colton Mishler, and Stephen Smith; and three great-grandchildren, Lila & Luisa Widenhoefer and Nova Howard.
Barbara was preceded in death by a son, Kurt Pat Howard; and two sisters, Janice K. Parker and Wanda W. Fitzgerald.
A prayer service will be held at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, June 6, 2020, at the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home, Jacobs Chapel in Monroeville, Indiana followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, at St. Rose Catholic Church in Monroeville. Burial will follow in Monroeville Memorial Cemetery.
Family will receive friends from 4:00 – 7:30 p.m. Friday, June 5, 2020, at the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home, Jacobs Chapel in Monroeville. A Holy Rosary service will be at 7:30 p.m. Friday, June 5, 2020, Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home, Jacobs Chapel in Monroeville.
