Emma Jean Crowe Switzer, 88 of Lexington, Kentucky peacefully passed to her new life on May 26, 2020 at her home surrounded by her loving family.

She was born in Winchester, Kentucky on August 19, 1931, the daughter of the late Hazel and Elba Crowe. Being the oldest child, she helped take care of her siblings and worked hard on the farm.

On November 27, 1948, she married Fountain Milford Switzer who preceded her in death on December 7, 2003. Also preceded her in death are sisters Beulah and Vernie and brother Billy.

Those left to cherish her memory are her son Fred and wife Terry, daughters Delilah Switzer, Vallarie Rice, Angela Brazelton and husband Todd. She was a loving and nurturing “Memaw” to nine grandchildren Tim, Matt, Mandy, Britney, Trevor, Julie, Jennifer, Josh and Jen. She had eighteen great grandchildren Hadley, Campbell, London, Remi, Theo, Jacob, Henry, Brooke, Raven, Lillie, Railey, Brinleigh, Patrick, Christopher, Jackson, Samantha, Jazmine, Michael and one great-great grandson Maxwell. She was the older sister to Homer, Dallas, Paul Crowe and special nephew Gary all who are still surviving.

Her greatest accomplishments in life were her love for her Lord, her family and the love for Man O’War Church of God which she attended for over 60 years. She was the essence of Christianity by her love and caring for others. You never walked in her house without hearing “can I fix you something to eat” and usually you ended up having to eat just to make her happy. She also showed that same caring to her neighbors by sharing her faith, food and helping those who needed their clothes hemmed or mended. She loved traveling with her family from the West Coast of the Cascade Mountains in Washington State to Disney World on the East Coast.

The Pallbearers will be Todd Brazelton, Trevor Brazelton, Matthew Rice, Timothy Switzer, Britt Coyle, Roger “Crash” Carter and honorary Gary Crowe. Her celebration of life will be Thursday, May 28, 2020 at the Man O’War Church, 1501 Trent Blvd, Lexington, KY. Visitation will begin at 5:00 through 7:00 pm with the funeral beginning at 7:00 p.m. Rev. Mitchell Tolle will be officiating. Burial will be at the Camp Nelson Cemetery in Nicholasville Ky.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Man O’ War’s Building Fund which can be mailed or made online at: https://manowarchurch.churchcenter.com/giving?open-in-church-center-modal=true
