On Friday, May 29, 2020 Frederick “Wayne” Wilson, loving husband, Dad, Grandpa, and Great Grandpa, passed away at age 71.

Wayne was born on September 28, 1948 in Frederick, OK to Woodrow and Dorothy Wilson.

He served his country proudly in the United States Army during Vietnam. While in Vietnam, Wayne received honors such as; National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Gallantry Cross with Palm and Vietnam Campaign Medal. Upon his return from the war, he married the love of his life, Shonda (Gail Smith) on July 31, 1970 (they would have celebrated 50 years this July). They happily raised 2 children, a son, Michael Wayne; and a daughter, Kerri Gail.

Wayne then started his career for Tinker Air Force Base, where he worked as a Fuel Quality Assurance Tester, he did this job for over 33 years until retiring. While Wayne and Shonda were raising their children, the nieces and nephews were always around. Everyone says family was most important to Wayne. Every chance he had there would be a camping trip, card game, an Atari battle with Jason and Doug, or fishing trip with his brother Jerry and all the kids, Kay Dawn and Dixie weren’t left behind in Wayne’s love for family time. He looked forward to any chance he could have a family gathering, whether it be a card game, holiday or just a Saturday cook out. Now as Wayne aged, his hobbies changed; he enjoyed playing cards with his family still, he cherished it most when his nephews, Jason, Justin and Judd stopped by and would join in a game. He also enjoyed his football, OU and Dallas Cowboys were his favorite teams. Really Wayne’s favorite pass-time was his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He loved spending time with them, whether it be a holiday (which he loved) or watching them play in his backyard, they were the light of his life.

Wayne was preceded in death by his father, Woodrow; mother, Dorothy; brother, Jerry; and brother-in-law, Bob. He is survived by his wife, Shonda of the home; sister, Kay Dawn; sister, Dixie; sister-in-law, Lynn; his first born son, Mike and wife Theresa Wilson of Moore; his daughter, Kerri and husband Steve Rhodes of Noble; grandchildren: Ryan and wife Alicia, Tracy Jo, Steven, Megan, Morgan and fiancé Joey Cox, Madison and fiancé Jake Sullivan, McKenna; great grandchildren: Adelle, Liam, Bentley, T-man, Bane and Ocean; several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A service will be held on Tuesday, June 2, 2020 @ 5:00pm at. Barnes Friederich Funeral Home Chapel, 1820 S. Douglas Blvd., Midwest City, OK 73130. Viewing time is Monday from 11:00 am-5:00pm.
