Ray Allen Rogers, age 72, passed away on Tuesday, May 19, 2020, in his home with his family by his side. Ray was a Christian man, having accepted Jesus Christ as his savior when he was 11 years old. He was baptized in a pond down in the mountains south of Lone Wolf.

Ray was born in Granite, Oklahoma, on December 2, 1947, to Floyd H. and Oleta C. (Pollard) Rogers. He was the middle son of a family of five boys. Ray was a lifelong resident of Lone Wolf. He graduated from Lone Wolf High School and was a proud member of the class of 1966. He was also a proud member of the Marauder's Car Club -- still has his membership card! He made many lifetime friends while a part of the Lone Wolf School system. He excelled in sports -- especially football!

Ray was proud of his service time. He was in the U.S. Army and was stationed in West Germany. He was a guard of the Berlin wall. It was quite a coincidence that his brother, Bruce Rogers, was also stationed in West Germany at the same time. They were stationed at different posts about 60 miles apart but were able to spend time together on several occasions. He met Jane Rhodes from McAlester about a week after he was honorably discharged from the service. They fell in love and married about 8 months later. They made their home in Lone Wolf where they had 2 daughters and raised their family. This past August 2, 2019, they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. Their daughters threw quite the party for them!!

Ray's two daughters, Amanda Rogers Prince of Oklahoma City, and Sherrie Rogers of Lone Wolf, meant the world to him. He was so proud of both of them and loved spending time with them -- riding four-wheelers, having cookouts, fishing, taking mini-vacations with them, and just enjoying each other's company! He loved going to Granite each morning and drinking morning coffee with his buddies, many of which became his close friends. He loved attending his grandkids school activities. One of his favorite activities was watching his grandson, Caleb, play ball. He tried to never miss a game. His grandkids, Haley and Caleb, were the apple of his eyes. He adored them and called Caleb "My little buddy" and Haley "Pretty girl" ! After Ray and Jane retired, they moved out to the Rogers Homeplace in 2014 and have enjoyed living the farm life together. He loved helping his farm friends out whether it was stripping cotton or baling hay. One of his favorite hobbies was coin collecting. Ray was a retired Ford parts manager for 20 years and then went to work for the railroad (Farmrail) and was a train engineer for 23 years. He retired as Fire Chief of the Lone Wolf Fire Department after 20 years. He loved his years with the Fire Department.

Ray was predeceased by his parents, Floyd and Oleta (Pollard) Rogers; his brothers Garry Rogers and Bruce Rogers; nephew Kim Rogers; and beloved great-niece Rachel Marie Swanson. He is survived by his loving wife, Jane Rogers, of the home; daughters Amanda Rogers Prince and Vaughn Prince of Oklahoma City, and Sherrie Rogers of Lone Wolf; his beautiful grandchildren, Haley Callahan and Caleb Callahan of Lone Wolf; his brothers Ned and Mary Rogers and Kirby and Mary Rogers, all of Lone Wolf.

Services for Ray are scheduled for Saturday, May 23, 2020, 2:00 P.M. at People’s Cooperative Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Sue Merritt officiating and Pastor Jim Riley officiating. Interment will follow at Lone Wolf Cemetery with the United States Army Honor Guard performing Graveside Rites.
