SHERRILL - Joann Russ Albro, 77 of Fairway Lane, died peacefully Thursday, May 28, 2020, in the comfort of her home, following an extended illness.Born in Oneida on August 27, 1942, she was the daughter of Earl P. and Dorothy Burleigh Russ. A lifelong resident of the area, Joann was a graduate of Oneida High School, Class of 1961.Prior to her retirement, Joann was employed with Oneida Limited for thirty-three years. She was a member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, and had so much enjoyment watching her grandchildren’s sporting events, her monthly get togethers with friends, growing her roses, being a Buffalo Bills fan and the Russ Family Thursday Night spaghetti dinners.Surviving are her daughter, DeLaine A. Trexler of Parish; her son, Steven Albro of Oneida; her daughter-in-law, Angela Albro of Oneida; her twelve grandchildren, Brian Trexler, Rebecca Trexler, Alexis (Mike) Thomson, Joshua Albro, Brandon Albro, Abbey Albro, Jonathan Swancott, Jakob Albro, Kaleb Albro, Lukas Albro, Mikah Albro and Nikole Albro; her five sisters, Ruth (E. Irvin) Donald of Oneida Castle, Elinor (Robert) Pettigrew of Oneida, Linda Widger of Canastota, Frances (Charles) Joseph of Sherrill and Deborah (Rex) Cary of Canastota; her brother, Donald (Carol) Russ of Vernon; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two sons, Bruce A. Albro on May 7, 2011 and Kenneth R. Albro on May 5, 2019, one sister, Dorothy A. Russ on November 8, 2009 and her brother-in-law, Harry Widger on February 9, 2020.Due to the current Covid-19 pandemic, funeral services will be held privately, at the convenience of the family, with the Reverend Denise Bowen, officiating.
