Perry G. Johnson, 61, of Colrain, died Tuesday, Jan. 20, at home. He was born in Greenfield, Nov. 5, 1953, the son of Carl G. and Lucille V. (Tetreault) Johnson.

Following graduation from Mohawk Trail Regional High School in 1971, Perry went to work at the former Kendall Co. in Colrain. He was an avid sportsman, hunting whenever he got time off. He fell in love with the Rocky Mountains in 1985 and returned to hunt there every two years for the next 10 years. His greatest hunting buddy was his father, Carl.

Perry loved the 118 acres he owned and groomed with selective cuttings and food plots for the wildlife. He was a member of the Colrain Volunteer Ambulance and Fire Department, serving as Fire Chief for many years. Besides his parents of Colrain, he is survived by his wife, the former Jane Goodell; two stepdaughters, Rhonda Sanders (William) of Turners Falls, Jessica Dunn (Jeffrey) of Manchester, NH; brother, Sidney of Colrain; sister, Carlene Lemay (George) of Starks, ME; three grandchildren, Hunter, Madison and Abigail Sanders, all of Turners Falls, and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held Sunday, Jan. 25, at 3 p.m. at Smith-Kelleher Funeral Home, 40 Church St., Shelburne Falls, with the Rev. Robert Szafran officiating. There will be calling hour from 2 p.m. until the time of the service. Memorial contributions may be made to either Colrain Ambulance, in care of Bell Dyer, or to the Colrain Fire Department, Main Road, Colrain, MA 01340.
