Son of Malcolm A Nicholson (c1869-1953) and Ada Alice (Hackbert/Heckburt) Nicholson (b.1868).

Lloyd Nicholson, 88, of 46 Main St. and a former School Committee member in Bernardston, died Wednesday at home.

In addition to serving on the school board, he was on the school building committee in Bernardston before moving to Northfield in 1958.

He owned and operated Greenfield Radio Service in Greenfield, retiring in 1973.

Born in Montague, Prince Edward Island, Canada, he previously lived in Twin Mountain, N.H., where he operated a radio repair service and worked for local hotels. He also lived in Long Island, N.Y., before moving to Bernardston in 1945. He was a member of the Bernardston Men's Club.

His wife of more than 50 years, the former Esther H. Trippett, died in 1996.

He leaves a son, Bennet of Winchester, N.H.; three daughters, Peggy Toepel of Everett, Wash., North Nartowicz of Colrain and Phoebe Woodard of Erving; a sister, Elsie Duborn of Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, Canada; 10 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held at the Brick Cemetery in Colrain, at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours. Kidder Funeral Home is in charge.
