Frances Neely Hewett, 94, departed this life Thursday morning, May 28, 2020 at Flo & Phil Jones Hospice House. She was born June 26, 1925 in Missouri to the late Gus and Laura Neely, but moved to Arkansas at an early age. She attended school at Brookland and Bono.

She took her RN training at St. Bernards Hospital. Her class picture is in the walkway at the hospital. After working at St. Bernards for several years, she held several other jobs in the nursing field, including Craighead County Health Nurse, office nurse for Dr. Barnett, ASU student health nurse and Director of Nurses at Live Oak Nursing Home. In retirement, she moved to Cherokee Village. She lived there until the passing of her husband.

All her life she attended the Church of Christ where ever she lived. Her last church home was Gracepoint Church of Christ.

She was also preceded in death by her husband, Robert Hewett; her infant son, Robert Hewett Jr.; a sister, Eleanor Murphy and brothers, Marion, Eldon and Darrell Neely.

She is survived by her children, Linda Harvey (Duane) of Jonesboro, Leah Hewett of Cherokee Village, Byron Hewett of Hardy, Winston Hewett of Conway and Marilyn Heath (Steve) of Jonesboro; grandchildren, Stacey Harvey, Samantha Hewett, Jessica Brewer and Steven Crocker; great-grandchildren, Hali, Anna and Elena and a great-great-grandson, Dillion and several nieces and nephews.

Many needy children benefited from the home provided by Bob and Frances Hewett. They helped several foster children and family when they needed a place to live.

A graveside service to celebrate her life will be 11:00 am Saturday, May 30, 2020 at Pine Hill Cemetery with Don House officiating. Interment will follow under the direction of Gregg – Langford Bookout Funeral Home.
