Betty L. Akers, 89, of Crystal Spring, PA; went home to be with the Lord on May 24, 2020 at Chambersburg Hospital. She was born on October 4, 1930; the oldest daughter of the late Dale and Mabel (Hockenberry) Layton. She was united in marriage to Allen A. Akers, Sr., he preceded her in death on July 30, 2008.

She is survived by her four children Joanne Beckstrom, Allen Akers Jr., Debbie Starliper married to Rick and Lisa Renninger married to Joe; four grandchildren Brad, Laura, Angie, and Trevor; seven great grandchildren; sister Audrey Morral; brother Gary Layton; two brothers and sisters-in-law; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Along with her husband, she was preceded in death by a brother Dale Layton Jr. and son-in-law, Cecil.

Betty was a member of Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church.

She resided in Fulton County the last 35 years, but was formerly of Greencastle, PA where she was employed at Sunnyway Diner for 30 years and worked at the Family House in Breezewood for several years.

She enjoyed spending time with her family, traveling, and completing word search puzzles. Betty was a wonderful and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.

A private funeral will be held at Akers Funeral Home with burial at Akersville Cemetery.

A special thanks to the Chambersburg I.C.U. nurses for the care that was given to our family.
