She was born May 24, 1931 in Lackawanna, New York a daughter of the late William Henry Abbott Jr. and Evelyn W. (Taylor) Abbott. She was a member of the Hope Lutheran Church in Arcade as well as their quilting class. She was also a member of the Arcade American Legion Auxiliary and past member of the Grants Pass OES in Oregon.
Barbara was a teacher in Oregon.
Her first husband, Donald James Barrey, whom she married on August 28, 1949 in Eagle, New York, passed away on June 16, 1980. Her second husband, Charles R. Newman, whom she married on January 1, 2005 in Sardinia, passed away on November 12, 2016.
She is survived by her son, Andrew (June) Barrey of Oregon; her step-children, Robert Newman of Arcade, Margaret (Michael) Wiedemann of Arcade, Kathryn (Steven) Miller of Arcade, Elizabeth Newman of Maryland and Amy (Merritt Jr.) Newman-Smith of Maryland; her sister, Mary Baldwin of Florida; also survived by 8 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands; her brother, William Abbott, III.
There will be no calling hours. A private service will be held at the convenience of the family.
