Obituary - Mrs. J. H. Seevers
Rosanna Jane Lee, daughter of Rosanna Jane and Alexander Lee, was born January 14, 1862, at Mount Pleasant, Iowa. She died September 9, 1933, at her home in Mount Ayr, Iowa, at the age of 71 years, seven months and 25 days.
In 1869 the family moved to Warren county, near Indianola, Iowa, where they resided for three years. Later the family resided for some time in Keokuk, Iowa, and Cambria, Iowa. In 1882, the deceased went to Davenport, Iowa, where she taught for two years in the Soldiers' Orphan Home.
In 1884 she married J. A. McMullen. To this union one daughter, Elizabeth, was born.
In 1885 Mrs. McMullen moved to Clearfield, Iowa, where she taught in the public school for thirteen years, after which she moved to Centerville, Iowa.
On December 3, 1905, she was married to J. H. Seevers of Mount Ayr, Iowa, where they established a home and enjoyed the fellowship of many friends. Since 1924 Mrs. Seevers has been an invalid.
Since childhood Mrs. Seevers has been a member of the Methodist church, where she worked faithfully as long as her health permitted. Mrs. Seevers was preceded in death by her parents, Rosanna Jane and Alexander Lee, one sister, Elizabeth Prosser, and three brothers, James E. Lee, William Lee, and David Alexander Lee. She is survived by her husband, J. H. Seevers; her daughter, Elizabeth McMullen; and one brother, Thomas E. Lee, and family of Centerville, Iowa, and the surviving families of the deceased sister and brothers.
The funeral service was held at the Rhoades Funeral Home September 11, 1933, at 2:30 p.m., the Rev. E. S. Menoher conducting the service. Interment was made in Rose Hill cemetery.
Those attending the funeral from out of town were Mr. and Mrs. T. E. Lee, Mr. and Mrs. E. O. Moss and Mrs. Luther A. Dawkins, all from Centerville, Iowa; Mrs. Jennie A. Lee and Miss Mabel Lee, Lincoln, Neb.; Mrs. Vie M. Lee and Mrs. J. R. Pendleton, Stratford, Texas; Mrs. Earl W. Vincent, Guthrie Center, Iowa; Mr. and Mrs. Arthur A. Harris, Des Moines, Iowa; Mrs. Fannie Baker and daughter Virginia, Polk City, Iowa.
