War of 1812 veteran. In 1814 he served in the company of Captain Shubael Wales, part of Colonel W. B. Sumner's Regiment. Later in 1814 he volunteered to go to Plattsburgh, New York to defend against a British invasion from Canada, serving as a member of Captain Warren Ellis' Company.
