Mrs. Weimhold had been a resident of Levelland since 1940. She and her husband, Forrest H. Weimhold, were owners/operators of the Hockley County Herald and the Levelland Daily Sun News. They purchased The Herald in 1939 and built it from a small weekly into a twice-weekly and finally a daily newspaper.
Mrs. Weimhold operated the paper herself from 1941-1945 while her husband was serving in the armed forces during World War II. She was both publisher/editor during those years.
The first edition of the Levelland Daily Sun News was published on 31 August 1952. They published the paper together until Forrest Weimhold's death in 1961. Mrs. Weimhold continued to operate the paper until selling it to Donrey Media on 1 October 1961.
Mrs. Weimhold was involved with newspapers at Spur, Ralls and Levelland. She was active in civic affairs and was concerned about the growth of any community she lived. She and her husband also established KLVT radio in 1950.
Survived by one sister - Mrs. Redah Anz; two brothers - Max Maples and Loren Maples; nieces.
