Verona Angela Toronto Bowen, a native of Salt Lake City, died September 25 in Redwood City, California. She was 92.
Mrs. Bowen was the daughter of Jonathan Jones and Clara Seegmiller Toronto. She attended LDS High School and University of Utah, received a bachelor's degree from Columbia University in 1927. She taught kindergarten at Lowell School for several years. In 1935 she married Robert Reader Bowen in the Salt Lake Temple. They were the parents of two daughters, Angela Bowen Haight, Menlo Park, Calif., and Robin Claire Bowen who died in infancy.
Mrs. Bowen was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Menlo Park Ward, Menlo Park, Calif. She was a past president of the Atherton Garden Guild and the Stanford Mothers Club.
In addition to her daughter and son-in-law, Angela and Bruce Haight, Mrs. Bowen is survived by her brother, John Seegmiller Toronto of Salt Lake City, and six grandchildren: David B. Haight, Mt. View, Calif.; Wendy H. Kuhnen, Menlo Park, Calif.; Dana H. Cattani, Palo Alto, Calif.; Susan H. Pinegar, Belmont, Mass.; Nancy A. Haight, Menlo Park, Calif.; and Jonathan R. Haight, Provo, Utah. She also has six great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, October 1, Larkin Mortuary, 260 East South Temple, Salt Lake City, 11 a.m. Burial will follow in the Salt Lake City Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Primary Children's Medical Center, 100 No. Medical Drive, S.L.C., Utah 84103.
