He was born March 31, 1911, to Jacob S. and Mary (Goering) Kaufman in Moundridge. They preceded him in death. He married Linda Mueller July 11, 1937, in Moundridge. She survives of the home.
Peter and Linda moved to North Newton in 1945 where he was a professor of industrial studies at Bethel College for over 24 years prior to his retirement. Peter was a member of the Bethel College Mennonite Church in North Newton.
Other survivors include: a son, Roger Kaufman and wife Janet of Wichita; a brother, Kenneth Kaufman of Moundridge; four sisters, Arlene Ediger of Henderson, Neb., Marilyn Kaufman of North Newton, Carol Siemens of Newton and Lucille Henry of Hutchinson; two grandsons, Brad Kaufman and wife Jami of Aberdeen, Scotland, and Brian Kaufman of Bella Vista, Ark.; a great-grandson, Ryan Kaufman; and a great-granddaughter, Amanda Kaufman.
He also was preceded in death by: a son, Bruce Kaufman, two brothers, Alvin Kaufman and Dan Kaufman; and three sisters, Olga Waltner, Gladys Kaufman and Helen Kaufman.
Graveside service was Monday at Restlawn Gardens of Memory in rural Newton.
Memorial service was Monday at Bethel College Mennonite Church with Pastor Norma Johnson officiating.
Memorials have been established with Bethel College in care of the funeral home.
