Stephanie Gaye McKissic-Wade, 46, of 7023 N. Knoxville, Peoria, passed away at her residence Saturday, Sept. 24, 2005, after a long and courageous battle with breast cancer.

Stephanie was born March 7, 1959, in Cleveland, Ohio, to the union of Rosco and Lustine (Hatten) McKissic. She was raised in Peoria, Ill., and graduated from Midstate College with an associate's degree in fashion merchandising. At age 20, she moved to Chicago to pursue a marketing career in fashion. Stephanie moved to Peoria later in life and was last employed at Eastman Kodak as an executive account specialist. She enjoyed and excelled at her work there for seven years.

Stephanie pursued excellence in her every endeavor and always enjoyed a challenge. She was a motivator, innovator, an achiever and a go-getter.

Stephanie was active in the community. She co-founded P-Town Travelers Club and the Clarence Faucett Little League.

Stephanie is survived by her mother Lustine V. Wellmaker of Largo, Fla; her daughter, Nichole Handy of Peoria; and six siblings, David McKissic of Indiana, Toni McKissic-Yates of Peoria, Florence (and Kelvin) Haley of Beloit, Wis., Alisha (and Albert) Huff of Peoria, Angela Wellmaker of Galesburg, Ill., and Alexis Wellmaker of Largo, Fla.

Stephanie is preceded in death by her father and grandmother, Earlene Hamilton.

Interment will be held at Lutheran Cemetery.
