Nathan Carl Jordan was born January 7, 1951, at home at George, Iowa, to Jacob and Hilda (Meinerts) Jordan. He grew up in George and graduated from George High School. After graduation, Nate worked at Hansen Silo and IBP in Luverne, MN. Because of his appreciation for history, Nate began refinishing antique furniture, oak pieces being his specialty. The love of history and the water also led Nate to a new passion in Okoboji, which was restoring classic wooden boats. Shortly after this, Nate established his own business called Blue Water Restoration.
On December 27, 1984, Nate married Peggy Even at Spirit Lake, Iowa. In 1990, Nate and Peg moved to Brookings and became co-owners of the Dairy Queen. Nate could always be counted on to fix whatever was broken, both there and at Bethel Baptist Church, where he served faithfully in many different capacities. He had a heart as big as Texas and opened his heart and his wallet to anyone who was in need. He credited this giving spirit to his decision in 1980 to surrender his heart and life to the Lord Jesus Christ.
Some of Nate's favorite past-times were riding motorcycle with his very own "Motorcycle Gang", singing quartet music, and spending quality time with all of the people he loved. He treasured the times he spent with his grandsons.
Survivors include his wife, Peg Jordan, of Brookings; three daughters: Stacy Zupan of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, Lisa (Bryce) Stoltenberg of Luverne, Minnesota, and Shawna Bergman of Brookings; a "son by choice," Jeremiah Minter, of Brookings; two grandsons, Cole and Elliot Stoltenberg; a brother, Roger (Marilyn) Jordan, of Orange City, Iowa; and three sisters: Elaine (Larry) Nagel of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Miriam (Bob Borrow) Jordan of Seattle, Washington, and Eunice Becker of George, Iowa.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Memorial services will be held Monday, July 23, at Bethel Baptist Church in Brookings, preceded by interment at Greenwood Cemetery.
Arrangements by Eidsness Funeral Home in Brookings.
