Kathleen Gilfillan, age 57, of Bellevue, Nebraska, died Sunday, July 15, 2007, at Bellevue, of injuries received in a boating accident.

Kathleen Agnes (Willmott) Gilfillan was born June 20, 1950, the youngest of eleven children born to Harry and Mary Ellen (Smith) Willmott. During her childhood, she lived in and around White, graduating from Deubrook High School in 1968.

She moved to Bellevue, Nebraska, after graduation and there met David Gilfillan. They were married on April 7, 1972, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Bellevue. David and Kathy had three children: Kristine in 1973, Scott in 1974, and Kimberly in 1978. The family resided in Bellevue, where Kathy became an active and popular part of neighborhood activities and dedicated volunteer in her children's schools. She returned to the paid workforce as her children got older, working first in a fabric store and then moving into a position as registrar at Vatterott College in Omaha. Most recently she worked as the registrar at Hamilton College in Council Bluffs.

Kathy's generous and selfless nature led her to participate in many volunteer activities, especially in her church. Her Catholic faith was the most important thing in her life, and it guided all of her actions. She was quick to help anyone in need, whether with a meal, a thoughtful gift, or a prayer, and followed Christ's command to "let your light shine" by living her life as example of Christian faith and love.

She is survived by her husband, David Gilfillan; two daughters: Kristine and husband Tom Lytle of Houston , Texas, and Kimberly and husband Eric Guthmann of Elkhorn, Nebraska; a son, Scott and wife Michelle Gilfillan, of Phoenix, Arizona; five grandchildren: Grace and Margaret Lytle, Stella, Jack and Thomas Guthmann; two brothers: Harry "Bill" Willmott of Austin, Minnesota, and Raymond and wife Jeanne Willmott of Owatonna, Minnesota; two sisters: Patricia and husband David Landsman of Elkton, South Dakota, and Carolyn and husband George Covrig of Brookings, South Dakota; and many other family and friends who will miss her greatly.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Mary Ellen Willmott; four sisters, Ellen, Myrna, Mary, and Janice; and two brothers, Tom and Charles.

Funeral Mass will be Friday, July 20, 2007, at St. Matthew's Catholic Church in Bellevue, Nebraska. A scripture service will be held Saturday, July 21, 2007, at St. Paul's Catholic Church in White, followed by interment at Fairview Cemetery.
