SGT US ARMY NATIONAL GUARD - IRAQ - Awarded the Purple Heart.
Penobscot - Harold J. Gray, 50, passed away surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, February 4, 2020, at the Togus VA in Chelsea. Harold was born on January 19, 1970 the son of George A. and Claudette R. (Astbury) Gray.

Harold served in the Maine Army National Guard and was proud to wear the uniform. He was wounded in the line of duty in Iraq. In 2004 Harold was awarded the purple heart for his injuries.

Harold was a dedicated son, brother, husband, father, and grandfather. His family, children, and grandchildren were the upmost important people in his life, he cherished each one of them. He also enjoyed racing and playing golf.

Harold is survived by his mother Claudette R. Gray, his loving wife Laurie Gray, his children; Natalie, Mercedes and Isabelle Gray, Shawn, Christopher, and Kayla Allen, six grandchildren; Abby, Ryann, Jayden, Myles, Colton, and Lincoln. Siblings; Wendy Gray and wife Ann-dee, Dale Gray, Brittany Gray, and Kyle Gray and wife Dani along with many brothers and sisters-in-law. Two special nieces Hannah and Courtney as well as many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. He is also survived by his mother and father in law, Gayle and Leroy Hamm. A very special friend Daniel Trojecki as well as many other friends.

Harold was predeceased by his father George Gray and grandfather Grampy Phil, one brother in law Ron Allen.

The family wishes to thank the Dr's and staff of VA Togus for their dedication, love, and compassion they showed Harold.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday March 7, 2020, at 11am at the Verona Town Hall 16 School Street Verona Island with Pastor Peter Remick officiating. (mitchelltweedie-young.com) (Bangor Daily News2/26/2020)
